Hi there! We'll be preparing more information here soon, but here's the short and quick version first:
What is microfiber leather and how does it perform?
- While it's not natural leather, it is the highest grade of vegan, synthetic leather made with ultra-fine fibers engineered to mimic the structure and durability, as well as look and feel of natural leather. It can be similarly breathable, and even often more resistant than natural leather against stains, water, and UV damage.
- It's also a great choice for us as it's known for its superior durability and sustainability especially versus typical PU leather. Less peeling too!
Why do we use microfiber leather?
We'd like to start by sharing that a big part of why we started Lullaby Run was, very simply (and badly) put, to make cute bags with better value-for-money more accessible. We had personally been very excited by all the cute bag brands we were seeing around Asia, but we had trouble going for bags at Php 4000-7000 range when they did not use real leather at all. This started our journey to launching Lullaby Run to provide bags in styles we liked ourselves, at better quality that we felt was more worth the same price point. We are our own target market, and we developed things that we knew we would love and buy ourselves with our own money!
That being said, part of the balancing act between quality and price point means making deliberate, thoughtful decisions on materials used. We go for quality materials that deliver for our lifestyles, and sometimes that means using a combination of natural leather with other quality materials. Here, we're introducing microfiber leather which we use for some minor parts and embellishments (ex. straps, loops, tags) to help make our products more accessible. We can share more next time for everyone who'd be interested in a deep dive!
